The first two chapters of Brave New World were very dark and twisted. The fact that they electrocute the babies to make them unknowledgable is the worst part. The children have no recollection of what is normal and what isn't. I'm excited to find out what happens next
Chapter seven of Brave New World was twisted. It is all about the reservation and normal society. We meet a few new people, Including the new Director, who may play a big role in the rest of this book. I think Lenina and Bernard being on the reservation will be good for them because it is not the same society that they are used to. They will most likely learn new ways of life and possibly change for the better.
In Chapter 13 of Brave New World Lenina showed that she only wanted John and no one else, which is odd considering how most "women" are in that society. During her soma coma she tries to seduce John but he shut her down. He talks to her about committing to her for life and that completely turns her off. When Lenina responds by trying to seduce him, he slaps her and calls her a whore. Next thing we know he is gone.
In Chapter 14 of Brave New World when Linda is on her death bed in the hospital, John comes to see her and she doesn't recognize him. She mistakes him for Pope. He tries to shake her to make her realize that it is her son. Before too long, Linda is gone, and they receive chocolate. This must have been terribly hard for John. Many things have changed for him lately and losing your mother would be the worst of all.
The ending of this book was not really what I was expecting. There is no real point in this book, There was no climax in this book. The ending with Johns death was not that big of a shocker. Throughout the book he gets more and more unstable and his death was predictable.
Chapter 7-Lenina and Bernard get to the reservation and she automatically doesn't like it. She says it is weird because there are kids walking around in circles getting whipped. Lenina started crying because she thought it was all wrong. She went for some soma to calm her down, and she was all out. Soma maintains their happiness so they dont have any crazy emotions. In some cases it is similar to today because many people take drugs to escape their true feelings.
Chapter 12-Bernard's stature is torn down when John will not come out and put on a show. John refused to come out for Bernard and leaves a lot of people hanging. Bernard finally got put into his place and is told he will not always be important to that society.
Chapter 11- Bernard brings Linda and John back to London. This changes the viewpoint we have on Bernard because he starts to become well-known. In this Society everyone is pretty much equal and happy. We start to see that Lenina is getting feelings for John, which is really ironic because the society they built doesn't want people to have a true affection for one specific person and she is doing exactly the opposite.
